CHAPTER EIGHT


James' stare could have killed Apple three times over. Apple had made James bungee jump, gone on a roller coaster ride and play catch with an elephant. It would have enjoyable if not Apple had forced James done all these. Apple had pushed James off the platform with his eyes blindfolded. All he could feel was the wind and off he go. After a real heavy lunch, Apple had thrown James onto a roller coaster which nearly made him vomit the contents of his lunch. As for the elephant... Apple kicked James into the mud, which made him attract rats. She blindfolded him and brought him to the elephant in the zoo. A rat ran towards him under the elephant's legs and there, the elephant went on a rampage destroying everything to avoid the rat and thus, the elephant being heavy and big sized, it chased James on an impulse.


Apple was guffawing at James all the way back to the house in Serangoon. James was filthy from head to toe. From all the activities and food Apple had prepared for him, she had not prepared a set of clean clothes - most probably on purpose.


"How did your brother even tolerate you?" James asked out of spite. Apple flinched and showed James a sad look. She looked at the far horizon and said, "He's gone. He... can't tolerate me any longer." James wondered if it was a wrong question to ask. Apple continued, "I said he went overseas a few years ago, no? Truth is, he went under the seas a few years ago. He was on the ship to Japan. There was a huge storm, and everything went down. But they didn't even report about the ship going down." James asked, "Then how did you know...?" "He told me that the ship was carrying nano-carbon materials. Lethal. It was private and confidential and even told me it might be the last time he would see me. He gave me a last tight hug, waved goodbye and that's the last time i saw him."


Nano-carbon are lethal, James registered that. If it was him, he would not want to be pitied thus, he said nothing. Apple wiped her tears and James pretended not to see. Apple turned and asked, "How about you, Jamesy? Lost anyone in your life before?" James turned dark and stopped walking. "I lost my sister a few days ago." Apple said nothing. James continued walking and so does Apple. Knowing Apple wanted to listen to more of the story, James continued, "Jess told me that Dad died when I was young. I couldn't remember anything about my parents. Jess also told me that it was because I was there when Dad and Mum died. And i was suffering from..." James stopped for a while and Apple arched an eyebrow, "suffering from?" James pursed his lips and said, "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder."


Apple simply listened to James and did not question anything and James was grateful for that. So much for the joker, Apple, she was a great listener. When James finished, Apple only asked a single question, "you have another illness, don't you?" James arched an eyebrow. She said, "Complex Regional Pain Syndrome,which is a neuropathic pain condition that usually develops after an injury or surgery or nerve damage, am i right?"

how many people knew about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome? ;D
wanted to put that he was fear of strangers, xenophobic. But it'll be weird that he could interact with Apple.
However that's the case, he's CRPS would not be that serious which meant he can be injured and operated quite a few times xD
