CHAPTER FOURTEEN

The security guard looked around the nano-hall. There was no one in plain sight. He could spot some blind spots not captured by their CCTV. For once, he was tempted to approach them one by one and search them. Yet, he did not do so. He spoke to the walkie talkie in fluent Mandarin, "Checked." He gave the hall one last look and climbed the stairs up to the next floor.

Apple and James breathed. James removed the hand covering Apple's mouth. She stared daggers at James and he shrugged. Apple had wanted to scream when she heard footsteps. James searched for blind spots and grabbed Apple over. It all happened within 5 seconds. Apple had to admit that James was skilled. Not just fast and swift, he could understand Mandrian too. Apple assumed that when James did not ask what the security had said to the walkie talkie.

James scrunched his eyebrows together and looked around.

"Wanna walk around some more?"

Apple shook her head reluctantly as she glanced at her watch. It's already almost 3a.m! She tapped at her watch and James placed his two palms together as if praying. He pleaded Apple to give him another hour. Apple knew he had to take care of this boy and nodded. James punched into the air and gestured to the staircase.

"Let me sleep a few more hours..."

"Wake up!" Someone shook Apple again.

Apple rolled her body to the other side but the someone shook her again. Apple slammed her fist down her bed and straightened up, "What is it!" She saw a grinning James and sighed. She rubbed her eyes and told him, "give me 10." James nodded and skipped out of the room. Apple sighed. She did not know why was James so enthusiastic to go around Singapore. They reached home at 5a.m that day after exploring most of the nano-carbon hotel. Apple was exhausted and James had to piggy back her the way home. James did not complain a single word.

Apple bathed and wore a new set of clothes. She smiled. Time to go.
